We asked Canadian designers and people who put together Canadian collections to think about their Spring/Summer 2010 frames, pick their favourite and tell us why it's their fave.

Here's what they chose.

Mehran Baghaie

Spectacle Eyeworks (Vancouver)

"My favorite new design is ME-04, because it has creatures on the temples of the frame that will “protect” and “give courage”! Once this frame is worn, an individual turns into a compassionate, soulful human who loves to love and loves to be loved (in most cases & undocumented). I think the Karma of ethically harvested Canadian maple material fuels this revelation further"

Beverly Suliteanu

Wescan Optical (Montreal)

"I love the vibrant colors and cool 70s-inspired temple pattern on this model (Fysh UK F3421). Bold prints are very in this season, from fashion to interior design, it's everywhere."

Carla D'Angelo Taylor

Claudia Alan (Vancouver)

"The Rudy is my newest favourite. I love how it melds a hip vintage look with the beautiful First Nations design by Corrine Hunt. Each temple has a wolf element on it and looks great on men and women."

Linda Mulford-Hum

Centennial Optical (Toronto)

"I’m a sucker for a pretty frame, so I have selected a new Alfred Sung frame that is very chic and elegant and just plain pretty. I find that there is a sea of clunky, flashy-coloured ladies' frames out there and I am feeling a movement towards lighter looks in tastefully done palettes."

Mike Christiansen

Venus Eye Design (Edmonton)

“Although this amazing frame is a part of our qt-pie children’s collection, it sells exceedingly well to petite ladies. The gentle upsweep provides a natural 'lift' around the eye area; the semi-rimless bottom allows depth to be added to fit a progressive lens if needed; and the dazzling colors instantly brighten up any complexion.”
